Sweden’s Calle Carlberg produced a textbook performance in the Opel Corsa Rally4 at the Rally di Roma Capitale to secure his third consecutive victory on Hankook tyres. Together with co-driver Jørgen Eriksen (Norway), he hit the gas from the word go, building up a lead of 7.8 seconds that he was able to gradually extend. Carlberg won all the key stages and managed the consistent grip level of his Hankook tyres perfectly before crossing the finishing line in first place. Meanwhile, an enthralling battle for second place developed behind him: Jasper Vaher from Estonia, Craig Rahill (Ireland) and British driver Ioan Lloyd all benefited from the consistently excellent performance of their Hankook tyres in a thrilling clash, with second and fourth places separated by just five seconds. Carlberg’s rivals will have their next chance to close the gap to the championship leader from 15th to 17th August at the Czech Rally Zlín.
