Neu-Isenburg, Germany, 22 May 2024 – HANKOOK COMPETITION, a Korean premier motorsports team sponsored by Hankook, will compete in the ADAC RAVENOL 24H Nürburgring, taking place in the Eifel (Germany) from 30 May to 2 June.

The 24-hour race on the legendary Nordschleife has a rich history spanning over 50 years and counts as one of the most notorious endurance races in the world. With an anticipated 200,000 passionate spectators, 130 racing cars – including Ferrari 296 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, Audi R8 LMS GT EVO2 as well as Porsche 992 GT3 and SPX – will battle it out for 24 hours under extremely demanding driving conditions.

The Nürburgring, often referred to as “Green Hell”, is characterised by a 300-metre elevation change and 73 bends on the 25.4 kilometres track, features that make the circuit a challenge for cars and drivers alike.

HANKOOK COMPETITION’s top drivers, including Steven Cho, Recardo Bruins and Jong-Kyum Kim, will be competing for victory in their class this year. The Porsche 992 SPX will be equipped with Hankook’s Ventus racing tyres, developed using the company’s top-notch motorsports technology. The racing tyres are noted for their outstanding grip, top handling performance and excellent durability to reliably support the vehicle’s explosive performance.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, HANKOOK COMPETITION has established itself as Korea’s leading motorsports team. Over the past nine years since 2014, the team has won seven championships overall in the Super 6000 Class, Korea’s top motorsports racing series. In 2022, the team made history by winning the Driver’s and Team Championship in this class, marking a milestone in the history of Korean motorsports.

HANKOOK COMPETITION has also competing with the best on the international stage. In 2020, the team raced the Dubai 24H of the 24H Series powered by Hankook. The team won the international race in its first year of entry and reaffirmed its potential by winning its class at the Barcelona 24H in 2022.

In 2023, the team participated in 24H Series European Championships and won three titles – the GT4 Class, GT Trophy, and GT Driver Championship – proving the excellence of Korea’s tyre technology and motorsports skills. Only recently, Jong-Kyum Kim participated in the 2024 O-NE Super Race Championship and ranked first in the GT4 class. He is now eyeing both the Korean and international championship trophies.
