Rowland new Formula E champion – Hat-trick of wins for Cassidy

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship delivered yet more top-notch racing action in July to round off the current season. The final part of the season began with the Hankook Berlin E-Prix at the historic Berlin Tempelhof airport site. New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar) started Saturday’s race from pole position and was able to hold on to top spot all the way to the finishing line. The 14th race of the season then proved decisive, as British driver Oliver Rowland applied the great grip of the Hankook iON Race to improve from eighth on the grid and finish fourth. This result was enough for the Nissan driver to claim the world championship title in the fully-electric racing series. New Zealand’s Nick Cassidy (Jaguar) claimed victory in the race after a spectacular performance that saw him rocket from 20th on the grid to the top of the podium. That proved to be the start of an impressive sequence of wins for Cassidy, who lifted the winner's trophy twice at the final championship event at the ExCeL street circuit in London. A driving masterclass, supported by the excellent performance of the Hankook tyres, also saw him claim two fastest lap times and a pole position, scoring a total of 88 points and securing second place in the Drivers’ World Championship. Porsche also clinched the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Championship titles.

Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsports: "This season has been an incredible showcase of what electric motorsport is capable of: fast, fierce, and forward-thinking. Our tyre has performed across diverse circuits and weather scenarios. Congratulations to the Drivers’, Teams’, and Manufacturers’ World Champions, and heartfelt thanks go out to the entire Formula E community for another electrifying season.”
